Efficiency and industrialization
with a refined aesthetic inspired by Barcelona’s architecture.
The renowned firm Batlleiroig Arquitectura designed a simple yet elegant two-tone façade for this modern and comfortable student residence, aiming to reinforce the connection with the typical architecture of Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood.
A modern residence, managed by the Hines student housing platform, covering 11,000 square meters across 9 floors, with 347 rooms, and featuring a wide variety of common areas designed to encourage socializing, studying, sports, and leisure activities.
“The interplay of the two-tone façade—chrome green and terracotta—lightens the overall volume, reflecting the two types of rooms in the residence…
Both buildings feature a facade of precast concrete blocks, with a color palette inspired by the stucco and sgraffito typical of Barcelona’s Modernist architecture.
Furthermore, the alternating use of smooth and ribbed panels helps to blur the joints between panels and creates a subtle variation in the façade’s color depending on the angle of the sunlight, lending warmth and quality when viewed up close, while also responding to the urban scale as a whole.”

We are very proud to have been responsible for the design and fabrication of the building envelopes, under the direction of Batlleiroig Arquitectura, for this energy-efficient residential complex, which was developed using the latest industrialized construction systems and with a focus on achieving maximum energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
Aluminum window and door systems with high-performance glass, installed using Schüco and Alumarte frames, featuring prefabricated insulated subframes, with a focus on LEED and WELL Platinum certifications.
“The building envelope minimizes the building’s energy demand, while the use of prefabricated solutions has led to a significant reduction in on-site waste generation.”
This project was developed using various passive strategies to reduce energy demand, such as large windows that open onto the street and the courtyard, allowing natural light to flood all living spaces, as well as a careful selection of finishing materials and an abundance of greenery that envelops us in gardens, terraces, and interiors. All of these strategies are designed to enhance comfort and promote healthy habits among students.
The student residence has been designed with a strong commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and the well-being of its residents.
