Last week saw the official inauguration of the new Caixa Research Institute<\/strong>, attended by His Majesty the King, the President of the Government of Catalonia, the Minister of Health, the Government Delegate in Catalonia, and the President of the \u201dla Caixa\u201d Foundation, underscoring the significant national and international impact of the new research center.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A large scientific research facility covering 20,000 square meters<\/strong>, which will significantly expand the current capabilities of the city of Barcelona, equipped with advanced scientific and technical resources and capable of hosting research groups of the highest international caliber. The new Hub is expected to house 500 professionals, 425 of whom will be scientists. Designed as a space for collaborative creation with a cross-disciplinary approach, the institute aims to translate its discoveries from the laboratory to patients in the form of more accurate diagnoses and better therapies. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

At Talleres Inox<\/strong>, we are very proud to be part of the specialized network of manufacturers that built the impressive \u201cCaixa Research Institute,<\/strong>\u201d located above CosmoCaixa and next to the Biomedical Research Center on Barcelona\u2019s Ronda de Dalt.<\/p>

An innovative center, designed by the firm TAC ARQUITECTES<\/strong><\/a>, aims to integrate the space into its natural surroundings at the foot of Collserola Natural Park and make it accessible to the public through an open structure divided into distinct modules that create a seamless connection between the green space and the city.<\/p>

A large-scale project in which Talleres Inox is responsible for the design, manufacture, and installation of the following components.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The inner skin consists of a stick-frame curtain wall system with aluminum profiles, alternating between glazed sections and composite panels. The outer skin, designed to enhance integration with the landscape, incorporates wooden elements installed by a specialized contractor, as well as areas clad in metal louvers, which act as a passive solar filter. <\/span><\/p>

The two panels are connected using galvanized steel brackets. Upper ties made of the same material are installed on top of them to stiffen the structure, and perforated sheets are incorporated at the bottom to serve an aesthetic purpose and help conceal the utilities. <\/span><\/p>

The metal structure features a uniform matte finish in RAL 7048, which provides visual consistency and a clean, understated look.<\/span><\/p>

Three-story curtain walls on the buildings. Using the WICTEC-50 system, modified by Talleres Inox to allow for the installation of aluminum walkways and exterior wooden structures without compromising the system\u2019s watertight integrity. <\/p>

An efficient building envelope featuring glazed sections made with STOPRAY VISION 52 glass supplied by TVITEC;<\/strong><\/a> shadow boxes in opaque areas; and cladding made with ALUCOIL composite panels manufactured by YAGUE.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
